We don’t do afternoon tea where I live. We do happy hour. Happy hour consists of eating hot wings, chips, and salsa and drinking beer or margaritas — no comparison at all to afternoon tea. We (I) decided that on our last day in the UK, we must experience an authentic afternoon tea. I did my usual over-the-top research to find a unique, family-friendly restaurant that would be a fun experience for all to remember. Sketch Restaurant and Gallery in London kept coming up in my search for the best spots for afternoon tea in London, especially on Instagram. Exactly what I was looking for.
We discovered Sketch Restaurant and Gallery through extensive research, searching for a unique and family-friendly spot for the ultimate British experience. This gem of a restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way, from the impeccable service to the breathtaking design and the perfect blend of luxury and indulgence. Plus, when it comes to Instagram-worthy moments, Sketch doesn’t disappoint.
So if you’re ready to immerse yourself in the grandeur of afternoon tea, into a world of elegant treats and stunning decor, Sketch Restaurant and Gallery is the perfect destination.
Our experience with Afternoon Tea at Sketch Restaurant and Gallery in London was unforgettable.

Whimsical Sketch Restaurant and Gallery in London.
Sketch Gallery has an unassuming entrance at 9 Conduit Street. However, when you walk in, things quickly change.
We dropped our coats and bags with the fashionable lady in the cloakroom and proceeded to the host. We had a reservation for 4:30. Reserve ahead of time if you decide to experience Sketch; it was quite busy. We were about thirty minutes early, but they seated us quickly.
By the way, the hours of operation of Sketch Gallery are 9 AM-10 PM.
I am not sure if there is a dress code at Sketch, but most customers were dressed up. We, on the other hand, had been walking London all day and were comfortably dressed. Our casual attire didn’t seem to matter much.
Afternoon Tea at the Pink Restaurant in London.
Upon walking into Sketch Gallery, I immediately understood why I had seen so many pictures and posts about this place.
Wow. It was VERY PINK. It was MAGICAL.
The lighting, the pink tulip seats, the walls, the Champagne, just PINK. Very campy, over-the-top décor but somehow sophisticated, tasteful, and elegant at the same time.
Quirky framed sketches cover the walls, many with witty and sometimes absurd quotes and poems. Very curious. It made me feel kind of giggly, happy, and excited that I found this fun place for my family.
I am sure there is no experience like afternoon tea at Sketch in London.
The Menu for Afternoon Tea at Sketch Gallery in London.
The Sketch Menu is minimal, and admittedly, I do not know how to order tea. Trusting the server, I asked him to bring his favorite tea and the usual treats served at Afternoon Tea.
The Tea.
Your tea options include herbal/floral, oolong, black, green, and a few special blends — Wuyi Oolong, Assam Gold, and Phoenix Honey Orchid.
This cute teacup and kettle arrived, and we drank this extraordinary tea.
Definitely not the sweet iced tea that I was served growing up in the South. Far from it. Simply fantastic. When I reached the bottom of my first cup of tea, the cup noted,
“Forget About It!”
How could I ever?
The Appetizer
The appetizer (the first course) was a quail egg, tiny cheese toast, and a little spoonful of Russian Osetra Caviar — I soon found out this caviar is one of the world’s finest, most prized caviar (and expensive at about $117 per ounce). I loved this; how exquisite of a taste. The kids wouldn’t touch it, lucky for me.
The Second Course.
A plate of tiny delicate savory sandwiches arrives, including Gougères (kinda like a cheese puff pastry) with egg, watercress, dijon mustard, and mayonnaise, a chicken sandwich with pickled red onion on malted bread, and a cucumber, broccoli, and goat cheese mini sandwich. Oh, and this dreamy truffle Croque with cream cheese on white bread was my favorite.
The dessert included petit fours, tartlets, macaroons, and tiny parfaits, each a delicate piece of art — an orange ginger cheesecake, a lemon marshmallow, and a chocolate tart with rum ganache and caramelized hazelnuts.
And for the kiddos, you get PB&J, ham, and chicken sandwiches. They get a lemon marshmallow, too, plus a chocolate tart and a cherry pastry. And a strawberry jam penny which is a coin-sized piece of buttered bread with jam. Then add four choices of juice — mango, apple, orange, and passion fruit.
I’m going to add a side note here.
My daughter has nut allergies, and Sketch provides a special allergy-free menu suitable for nut, dairy, and gluten allergies. Her two-tiered platter came separately; this eases her mind and helps her to try new things without being anxious about a nasty reaction. We all appreciate this (and it makes her feel special).
Next, the Scones.
Next came beautiful scones with jam and clotted cream. There is some controversy as to what goes first on your scone, the jam or the clotted cream. After thoroughly researching this controversial topic, it seems that the majority agree that raspberry or strawberry jam is first, then clotted cream.
The Final Course.
The final course was two small cakes. Two pieces of art that tasted and looked amazing. I was pleasantly full of food, sites, sounds, feels, smells, family, and fun.
The Price Tag for Afternoon Tea at Sketch.
At 60£ ($83 in USD) per person, the price tag of afternoon tea at Sketch is a bit costly, but the experience is an extra special treat worthy of the price. If you want your afternoon tea with bubbly, the cost goes up to 79£ or $109USD).
I Almost Forgot to Tell You About the Bathrooms at Sketch.
A plain white door opens to two sets of staircases. I am assuming one for boys and one for girls, but I cannot confirm that as there were no gender signs. The staircase winds up to a bathroom full of egg-shaped pods, and the ceiling is covered in multicolored tiles. The bathroom is spotless, bright, colorful, and fun.
I am running out of adjectives to describe this fascinating experience of Afternoon Tea at Sketch London.
I now know why this place is one of the most instagrammable spots in London, but it goes beyond the photos. It has a fresh, fun, casual, relaxed vibe, and no, I won’t “forget about it!“
Your post makes me want to head to London and have an afternoon tea party. Absolutely love your writing very humorous in all the right places.
Anywho, best of luck to your page and will continue reading your travel journey with your kids 🙂
Thank you, again, it is a work in progress!!
Sounds like a great place! I can do without raw quail egg and caviar, but the experience would be worth it to at least try it!
The caviar was fantastic, the quail egg, well…….
This place looks so amazing! I’d love to visit London and have some afternoon tea.
I’m a tea drinker but not like this! (I’m a Midwest girl, I drink my tea in a big mug while sitting on the couch reading a magazine, ha) but this sounds SO FUN. Envious!
Funny, I drink my coffee the same way on my patio in Florida!!! It was great, though.
Oh man! Sounds awesome. And I love pink! Those pods in the loo crack me up. I wanna go just to see them.
The bathroom was one of the best parts, a little confusing when I first walked in! My son (he’s ten), he is still confused!
It felt like I went on a virtual tea trail. 🙂
Haha Thanks. It was such a fun experience!
What an interesting place, I would love to see it now!

Thank you. It is a free theme with wordpress. I am not too tech savvy and I managed to make this site with wordpress.com
Good way of telling, and nice piece of writing to take data on the topic of my presentation subject, which i
am going to convey in college.
That sounds like fun. Good luck with Your school presentation.
Hi, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was
just curious if you get a lot of spam responses?
If so how do you protect against it, any plugin or anything you can advise?
I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any assistance is very much appreciated.
I am so new, I don’t even know if I could tell it was spam. I am getting lots of comments in a different language that I am unable to read! How can I tell if it is spam? Sorry that I am no help!

I hope you all are having a great weekend. I added a new list. This one is smaller, but still useful. I think the next one will be bigger.
Hello. I see that you don’t update your blog too often. I know that writing posts is boring and time consuming.
But did you know that there is a tool that allows you to create new posts using existing content (from article directories
or other pages from your niche)? And it does it very well.
The new posts are unique and pass the copyscape test.
You should try miftolo’s tools
Very tempting to go and visit this place. The way you described it in your blog makes the reader feel like experiencing it right away
Those bathrooms look so weird and funky! I love that you included them in your post! haha
They definitely needed to be mentioned. They looked like big eggs!

Wow this sounds so enticing! Love the experience. Thanks for sharing Xx
Makes me feel like Alice on the tea party!
Ive had afternoon tea plenty of times when I was deployed but nothing fancy like that. The bathroom pods look really cool and futuristic. Certainly picture worthy.
Afternoon tea is always a wonderful idea. Then again I also do love a good happy hour special!
Looks like such a cool and funky place and the tea and scones sound like a perfect afternoon treat 🙂 thanks for sharing the info on this place.
I am not much of a tea drinker. I need my cup of coffee lol. However, I am always up to trying new things. I love how you wrote up your review. I’ve never seen something like this bathroom pods. I’m from NYC so you know I’ve seen a lot. You have inspired me to look for a tea place in NYC. Thx so much for sharing this review!
I loveeeeee tea! My favorite is Earl Grey. I must visit this place one day. Great post! (^_^)
Absolutley beautiful! I love the bathroom pictirees!!!! So cool!!
Absolutley beautiful! I love the bathroom pictirees!!!! So cool!! Love this!
It was really one of the coolest places that I have been.
Sounds like a really good time and lot of good.
This looks incredibly delish! I’m of the happy hour generation so this is quite a different experience. Thanks for sharing what an afternoon tea entails!
I am a happy hour kind of girl, too. But so fun to see and experience something different.
This place looks amazing! I was going to put it on my list of places to try to see and then I saw your allergy note. One of my daughters has a dairy allergy, the other peanut. I love to make a point to frequent places that go out of there way for food allergies!! It’s now on my “must see” list, thanks so much!
Absolutely, she likes to try new things, but is nervous about it. It definitely eased her mind to have this as an option. And makes her special!
I want to go for just the bathrooms. I guess I’ll stop for some tea, too. 🙂
Right, it is almost worth it just for a trip to the bathrooms (not really, though!).
What?!?! Those bathrooms! I have never seen anything like it!
It was one of a kind. So funny and interesting.
London has always been my best travel destination. Your post provides more information why people should visit this beautiful city. Thanks.
We loved it. It was our first time as a family out of the US, so it was special. We will definitely be back.
I should have tagged along with my boyfriend last weekend. I will definitely check this cute cafe soon. 🙂
You must visit. It is really a fun experience. Bring your camera!
This looks lovely, but I think I still prefer a traditional English tea. BBakery does a really wonderful one complete with old tea pots your nan would own. I’m from Canada so we don’t really have high tea either. When I go to the UK I always hunt it down and live for the scones!
It is so different from what we do here. So, it was a fun and unique experience. I will definitely seek it out while traveling from now on. We loved it.
I’m a huge tea drinker and would love to spend the afternoon at Sketch. I’m always looking out to try a good scone. To be honest, I didn’t know there was a process for the jam and cream on your scone. Can’t wait to try this place in the future!
It is so much fun. I hope you love it as much as we did. I had to google the whole jam and cream controversy!
This experience attracts me. I think it’s time to go to London once again. Never seen anything quite like the bathrooms, it’s kind of stunning and amazing.
It really was. I wasn’t sure what to think!
I love afternoon tea.
How strange are those pod toilets have to say I have never seen anything like those before.
Me neither. They were intriguing, for sure. I still am not really sure what to think.
Interesting bathrooms…. Love scones, sounds like a fun place.
